Gerhard Mitter PORSCHE 908/2 Targa Florio F1 Race Driver DOUBLE PRINT Poster Two-print spread featuring a great close-up of Porsche Formula One driver and all-around team backbone, Gerhard Mitter—quite well executed, with a grainy, vintage look. The other half of the spread shows a dramatic image of a Porsche 908/2, the car that Gerhard Mitter and Udo Schütz drove to victory in the 1969 Targa Florio. This is an incredibly detailed image, down to the texture of the wide racing tires and the scars on the wing, the welds on the metalwork, and the race-worn dual exhaust pipes. (Please note: Any differences in color/exposure on the two halves are strictly a result of photography—the two images are perfectly matched in color.) Mitter started out his F1 career in 1963, scoring three points in his home German Grand Prix in a 1961 Porsche 708. Subsequent F1 seasons were spent with Lotus, BMW, and his own Brabham team. Mitter won the 1968 24 Hours of Daytona in a Porsche 907 and the 1969 Targa Florio with partner Udo Schütz behind the wheel of a Porsche 908/2. He brought home wins against Ferrari in the European Hillclimb Championships, 1966-1968. Prints are suitable for framing, and beautifully executed in the 2005 Porsche Wind Tunnel calendar. Since the calendar is spiral bound, the inside of each image was slightly trimmed. Prints look great framed and matted with border down the middle, or framed separately and hung side-by-side.
